Monterey County Jail Visitor Screening

One of our top priorities as your Sheriff’s Office, is to maintain the health and safety of the inmates in our care. Given the close quarters of a jail, there is ample reason to take precautions when we have a public health concern such as the Coronavirus.

Effective immediately, we will verbally screen all visitors to the Jail concerning the COVID-19 virus. This screening will not only cover visitors but attorney’s, probation officers, parole officers, program volunteers, ect.)

They will be asked the following three questions:
Have you or anyone you’ve been in contact with had laboratory confirmed Coronavirus within the last 14 days?Do you have fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of lower respiratory illness?Has any member of your family or close acquaintance had the flu or flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days?

If the answer to any of the questions is “yes” the visitor will not be allowed into the facility.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate through this process.
